Chris Blackwell, the acclaimed hotelier who founded Island Records and introduced the world to Bob Marley and U2, recently re-opened GoldenEye; built as the novelist Ian Fleming's Jamaican retreat, it is now an award-winning destination.

Long before sustainability and stewardship became the bywords for responsible tourism, Blackwell's Jamaica-based hotel portfolio, Island Outpost resorts, began setting the standard for socially and environmentally conscious travel.

Although Island Outpost resorts have hosted Heads of State and Grammy winners alike, Blackwell himself often shuns the limelight, preferring to work behind the scene to create lasting cultural change. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and lives with his family on a 2,500 acre organic farm, Pantrepant.

Founder and executive director of the non-profit organization CauseCentric Productions, Céline Cousteau collaborates with other non-profits and individuals to increase their world-wide exposure by creating short documentaries about their work, thereby providing a visual communication tool.

With a degree in Psychology, a masters in International and Intercultural Management and fluent in three languages Céline uses photography, written word and documentaries to enhance her role as spokesperson for the many issues and causes involving our natural world and the species within in, including our own human stories.

Daughter of ocean explorer and filmmaker Jean-Michel Cousteau and granddaughter of the legendary Jacques Yves Cousteau, Céline created "Ocean Inspiration" in 2011 in tribute to her grandfather's 100th anniversary as a platform to celebrate and recognize ocean advocacy in all forms, from science to art, dance to filmmaking.

Céline has worked as field producer, on-camera presenter and photographer on numerous television documentaries including PBS' successful television series "Jean-Michel Cousteau: Ocean Adventures", CBS's "Mind of a Demon", Discovery Channel's "Mysteries of the Shark Coast". Most recently she co-hosted a 12-part documentary series produced by the Chilean based NuevoEspacio Producciones, called "Oceano: Chile Frente al Mar", during which she explored both diving under water and trekking on land from Antarctica to northern Chile and westward to Easter Island. Currently working on an independent documentary in the Brazilian Amazon as well as a few short films, Céline is also developing a series of educational e-books for young children called "Little Journeys with Céline Cousteau" to introduce the next generation to the animals and cultures of our world.

Céline is also international spokeswoman for the La Prairie cosmetics company representing their Advanced Marine Biology collection, and has joined forces with Contiki Holidays (travel for ages18-35) as their Sustainability Partner. She has been ambassador to the Clean Up the World Campaign since 2009, and collaborates with many projects such as World Resources Institute's Reefs at Risk initiative, SeaWeb's "Too Precious to Wear" campaign, and other non-profits such as Amazon Promise, Green Chimneys, and many more. Board member of both Plant a Fish and Adventurers and Scientists for Conservation, Céline strongly upholds the notion that through collaboration we become more effective advocates for any number of causes.

In less than two decades Sonu Shivdasani and his wife, Eva, have created a pioneering vision for sustainable tourism, coining the concept of barefoot and intelligent luxury which recognizes the ability for luxury holiday making and care for the environment to co-exist with perfect ease. Six Senses Resorts & Spas was born out of an immediate love for the Maldives, which Sonu first visited almost 2 decades ago with Eva, who is now the Creative Director. Captivated by the beauty of these precious islands Sonu and Eva decided to buy an island and build their home there, with just one caveat from the Maldivian government; on the basis of granting permission for them to build a home, they must build a resort and open a management company to run it. So Six Senses Resorts & Spas began as a labour of love and their first and flagship resort Soneva Fushi by Six Senses opened in 1995. Soneva Fushi and Six Senses quickly received iconic status amongst the discerning travel community and industry endorsements soon followed with a host of awards for both, the standards of guest experience, and sustainability; including in 2000 and 2008 The Best of the Best by the readers of Conde Nast Traveller UK; and in 2008 The World Travel and Tourism Council's Tourism for Tomorrow Award.

At the time of its sale, the Six Senses Group had grown to almost 26 resorts that were either open or under development, and 41 Six Senses Spas in the groups own properties or hosted by third-party managed properties.

Sonu and Eva now focus their attention on Soneva. Each Soneva resort remains true to Sonu and Eva's original vision of 5 star luxury accommodation but with a commitment to protecting the environment and respecting the local culture and fragile host eco system which was to remain undisturbed by the opening of any new resort. Each Soneva resort uses only natural and sustainable building materials, plastic is banned and as much produce as possible is grown or caught locally to support the group's constant drive to lower its carbon footprint and to realize Sonu's vision for the group to be totally 'decarbonised' by 2015.

A man of immense energy, vitality and vision, Sonu continues to be a leader in driving positive change and pioneering eco-tourism. His belief is that protection is not enough and a 'reverse thrust' is needed. Recognizing that tourism by its very nature causes a carbon footprint, Soneva has proactively implemented several initiatives to mitigate this and give back to the environment. One of which includes working with PATT (Plant a Tree Today) to reforest a large area of Northern Thailand with a target of planting 200,000 trees per year for the last 2 years. This will be one of the largest sponsored areas of reforestation providing work for the local community and crucial support for endangered wildlife.

In the last thirty-six months before the sale, Six Senses had also begun a water project which has resulted in banning imported water to all of its resorts – reducing 'food miles' as well as the build up of waste glass and plastic – in favour of bottling its own water, in glass recyclable bottles adding minerals at source. Revenue from the sales of Six Senses water is divided amongst three water charities, whose work has meant access to clean water for over 650,000 people previously denied this as of date.

This initiative continues at Soneva. The Soneva Slow Life Trust is also supporting "Hotel Water", an initiative to encourage the hospitality and restaurant industry in general to follow the footsteps of Six Senses to serve water produced on site and to give some of the savings to charity.

Most recently Soneva has become a proud partner of the Blue Marine Foundation, a foundation dedicated to preserving the world's fragile oceans and supporting eco systems.

Soneva has pledged half a percentage of its annual revenue to funding local community projects such a supporting educational systems that promote awareness of marine conservation as well as active projects including replanting of mangrove forests, coral cleaning and endangered species protection.

A descendant of Indian parents, Sonu was born and studied largely in England, with some periods of his education being in Nigeria and Switzerland. He is an alumnus of Eton College and a graduate of Oxford University, where he received an MA in English Literature.
